Project Manager – Retail Sector Experience

Job Description

Our client, a leader in their field and the project is working with the leading retailers to launch some new products, is seeking a hands-on Project Manager with experience leading technology and business projects and who has project experience working with large retail brands or FMCG companies. This is a daily rate contract opportunity for an initial six-month term.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of IT and business transformation projects within a complex retail environment.
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Lead planning sessions, define project scope, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Drive the delivery of key technology enhancements across retail systems, from PoS to supply chain and customer-facing solutions.
  • Monitor project performance and manage risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Deliver clear communication and reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Coordinate vendor interactions and manage third-party delivery timelines.
  • Ensure effective documentation and adherence to project governance practices.

About You

Experience Required

  • Minimum 8 years of project management experience, ideally within large retail organisations or working with Retailers (Musgraves/ BWG/ Primark etc)
  • Proven experience in delivering projects in fast-paced, customer-centric environments.
  • Background in managing both IT and business change initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels.
  • Experience delivering projects in hybrid working models.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with or alongside major retail brands or FMCG companies.
  • Knowledge of retail-specific systems (PoS, inventory management, merchandising platforms).
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project delivery methodologies.
  • Vendor and third-party delivery management experience.

Educational Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, or a related discipline.
  • Project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification) is highly desirable.
