Let's get straight to the point: is it possible to fall in love with a machine? It could seem like a gloomy idea to some people. But from an opposing viewpoint, is it not unfair to deny people who might be lonely or experiencing particular mental or physical difficulties the possible comfort and company that such technology could provide? These concerns are at the centre of a larger conversation about how love and connection are changing at a time when artificial intelligence is starting to trespass on the territory of human emotions.
