About this role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the day-to-day implementation of a variety of projects across digital, regulatory, operational, onboarding/offboarding, and technology domains. This role will be responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of assigned projects in accordance with approved project management methodologies and Pepper's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, planning, and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes, ensuring compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and legislative requirements, while effectively managing risks.

Reporting to the Head of Strategic Projects and forming part of the Change Team, the Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery and oversight of multiple projects at varying stages of the lifecycle. This role requires full, end-to-end, face-to-face project lifecycle management across a diverse portfolio, including digital, regulatory, operational, onboarding/offboarding, and technology initiatives. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, proactive professional who can manage multiple priorities and stakeholders, ensuring delivery in line with Pepper’s project management methodologies and SDLC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the driving force behind the project, effectively deliver assigned projects to ensure Pepper Advantage can meet its commitments in the execution of digital, regulatory, operational, and information technology initiatives.
  • Work closely with senior business stakeholders to define the project scope, requirements & timelines.
  • Plan, lead, monitor and report (to all levels) on the work of project teams to ensure delivery meets functionality, quality, cost and time commitments.
  • Co-ordinate delivery with relevant departments; manage, monitor and control internal resources to deliver project objectives.
  • Analyse actual performance against the plan and adjust accordingly with plan objectives.
  • Define and embed a strong and proportionate level of governance throughout the project.
  • Define, own & manage communication for the project at all levels, project, customer, Change Leadership, ExCo
  • Throughout delivery ensure strong lessons learned principles are embedded.
  • With confidence manage project issues as they arise.

Customer / Stakeholder Management

  • Be proactive, identify stakeholders (internal & external); define and implement a communication plan to ensure the project delivery meets expectations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and clients.
  • Ensure that all project artefacts are published and agreed where required.

Risk management

  • Define and build the appropriate level of contingency into the plan to protect time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Create and maintain a risk & issue log, agree owners and mitigating actions, escalating where appropriate.
  • Holistically analyse risk across the project and take corrective action promptly.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Manage the project budget and resource plan and ensure processes are in place to track costs.
  • Ensure any deviations from the approved project budgets are reported.

Essential Skills & Experience

Candidates should be highly professional, self-motivated with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Experienced in delivering multiple projects end to end and management throughout the full project lifecycle in a highly pressurised environment in multi-locations. Significant experience and knowledge of supporting transformational change in a Retail mortgage servicing business. Experience working with technical and non-technical business teams to manage internal and external business needs to drive functional and technical requirements. Experienced in MS Office suite. Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools. Ability to take a ‘Hands On’ approach. Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and adapt to changing priorities. Strong understanding of all aspects of SDLC. Experience working with senior & C suite stakeholders. Experience leading and directing teams in a fast-paced, pressurised environment. Able to adapt and respond to changes in projects, environments, and priorities. Ability to multi-task and work with stakeholders at all levels. 3rd party management experience. Jira experience – manage boards, create reports. Experience in digital projects. Experience in financial regulatory projects. Self-motivated, meet tight deadlines, and possess enthusiasm to learn new disciplines.

Essential Qualifications

  • 3rd Level Qualification
  • Professional Qualification in Project Management e.g., Agile, PMP, Prince2
  • At least 5 years banking/financial services experience and knowledge of financial products.
  • Leadership and team management experience.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Jira experience
  • Experience in migration/onboarding projects
  • Experience and knowledge of testing in a retail mortgage servicing business
