World PM Leaders to Convene in Dublin

The project management leaders from 45 countries will gather in Dublin from Sept. 24 - 26 to attend the Council of Delegates meeting of the IPMA (International Project Management Association).

The Institute of Project Management (IPM) is proud to be hosting this event which will take place in the D4 (Berkley Court) Hotel and will bring together the profession's thought leaders from Africa, Asia, Europe, North & South America. Since joining the IPMA in 1997 Ireland has always played a very active role in its affairs. Ed Naughton is the former Vice President for Marketing, Professor Sebastian Green was one of the founders of the Academic Forum and John Atkinson is an international certification assessor who has assisted many countries in developing their certification programmes.

The Council of Delegates is the steering committee of IPMA which determines the policies and the strategies for the organization. The council meeting also provides an opportunity for delegates from all countries to exchange ideas on today's project challenges and emerging trends, to enjoy networking and to sample the culture of the host country.

The IPMA, the world's first project management association, was founded in 1965 by a group of innovative people who created a forum for project managers to network and share information. Since then it has grown and spread worldwide and it is now an international network consisting of 45 national project management associations from all over the world.

Over the years IPMA has developed the world's leading certification programme and played a major role in the promotion and progress of project management. There are currently some 1800 IPMA certified professionals in Ireland. The certification management board panel meeting which takes place on Friday, Sept 25 allows the representative delegates to discuss, review and analyse the ever-changing and evolving framework of competency-based certification.

The Annual Graduate of the year awards will take place at a gala dinner on Saturday evening with the winners receiving their awards from IPMA President Brigitte Schaden.
