IPMA Chooses New Collaboration Tool

IPMA, the International Project Management Association, has announced the selection of Projectplace as a global collaboration and web-based project management tool for the next two years. The main reasons behind the decision were Projectplace’s usability and communication attributes and its ability to allow IPMA to communicate effectively across all 55 member associations.

IPMA is recognised as a leading authority on competent project, programme and portfolio management (PPPM). IPMA ensures that project and programme management best practices are widely known and appropriately applied at all public and private sector organisations.

IPMA chose Projectplace to enable better collaboration and communication within IPMA’s Boards, project teams, and virtual activities. ”Quick, easy and secure access to all documents relating to the activities of boards are mandatory for the efficient use of voluntary board members’ scarce and valuable time”, says Ed Naughton, a member of the Education and Training Board.

Areas covered in IPMA’s evaluation of the tool included features and capabilities, general user satisfaction, convenience and responsiveness, professionalism of the support hotline, comparison with other tools, and the possibility to provide recommendations regarding Projectplace’s further tool development.

“IPMA has looked at the various tools in place among the best performing national member associations of IPMA. We found the best solution to enable easier and more efficient ways of collaborating across all members associations. After evaluating Projectplace, it was obvious that this tool could best fulfil our document and project management needs. The tool is not only easy to learn and use, but it also meets IPMA’s security requirements.”

Founded in 1965 and registered in Switzerland, the International Project Management Association (IPMA) is the world’s first project management professional organization. IPMA’s prior name was INTERNET, for over 20 years, before we gave up that name to benefit the WorldWideWeb. IPMA is an international federation of 55 national PM societies in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas. IPMA offers an International Competence Baseline standard, a four-level project manager certification, a unique Project Excellence Awards programme, expert seminars and global knowledge. IPMA’s annual world congress is one of the most important meetings of the world’s project management experts and leaders each year. Additional information about IPMA is available at ipma.world
