Land Manager

Job Description

Land Manager required for a major offshore wind developer based in Ireland

Responsibilities

* Develop, review, and maintain a land strategy that considers the key activities required to deliver the land, crossing and access agreements, project interfaces, risks, and the risk mitigation options.
* Work closely with the Consent Manager, Onshore Consent Manager, Onshore Package Manager, Stakeholder Manager, EIA consultants, legal advisors, and the engineering team to develop and drive the land strategy and procurement.
* Manage the land agents, legal advisors and other advisors required to support the land strategy.
* Work closely with the Stakeholder Manager and land agents to engage regularly with landowner stakeholders and build and maintain trust and good relationships.
* Seek to ensure that landowner requirements are appropriately considered and managed in the consenting strategy, and seeking to ensure that consenting requirements (e.g., mitigations, site access for surveys) are considered in land/ crossing agreements.
* Develop proposed negotiation strategies with landowners.
* With the project lawyers negotiate heads of terms and detailed contracts with the landowners.
* Liaise with the grid in terms of final acceptance of land agreements by the transmissions system operator and owners.
* Build and manage the land budget and detailed option/ lease payments for each landowner. Ensure ceiling costs have been approved by the Project Director to inform negotiations.
* Ongoing management of the land programme and risks in close liaison with the project Programme, Risk and Consents Managers.
* Quality checks of all documents to be issued to third parties.
* Ensure relevant parties are notified of, the project HSSE, legal, financial, consenting and engineering requirements for land activities, site visits, surveys etc.

Requirements

* Property, business or engineering degree or equivalent experience with demonstrable land acquisition experience in the renewables or other relevant infrastructure sectors.
* Demonstrable appreciation of technical, commercial/contractual and policy aspects of connecting large infrastructure projects to the grid. Onshore or Offshore wind and contestable substation build experience is preferred.
* Knowledge and experience of working within the Irish/UK renewables sector.
* Knowledge and experience of working in land acquisition in Ireland.
* Ability to challenge the status quo, identify solutions, influence landowners to enable a successful implementation.
* Project Management skillsets.
* Stakeholder / Relationship management skills in a similar environment with similar stakeholders.
