JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE:

The eHealth-Hub senior administrator will co-ordinate the administration of a cancer research project that will hire and train graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and clinical research assistants at 7 Irish universities to work with cancer clinical institutes on the island of Ireland. The eHealth-Hub for digital health in cancer is an all-island collaboration between seven academic centres on the island of Ireland (UL, QUB, UCD, TCD, RCSI,UCC, NUIG), eight hospitals, industry and international partners, that is led by the University of Limerick. The senior administrator is a key member of the eHealth-Hub team who will work closely with researchers and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of the project.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITES:

The duties of this post include but are not limited to:

Provide administrative support to the eHealth-Hub for Cancer project, work closely with the project directors, in partnership with the Higher Education Authority (HEA) to facilitate timely delivery of research outcomes of the awarded grant and high quality research in the area of cancer eHealth.

Coordinate operational duties and provide administration that supports research activities of the eHealth-Hub to ensure timely delivery of the eHealth-Hub for Cancer deliverables and its goals to advance Cancer research on the island of Ireland

Co-ordinate and support roll-out of education and training initiatives to research trainees in the eHealth-Hub.

Provide dissemination of research, through development of communication that informs eHealth-Hub stakeholders, patients and the public about the research. Not limited to organization of webinars/seminar series, drafting and distribution of newsletters, social media updates, website content, website updates, patient and public engagement

Administrative duties include minute taking, drafting letters, reports and other documentation and event organisation for the eHealth-Hub director and eHealth-Hub projects.

CONTEXT:

The eHealth-Hub in digital health for cancer was recently established with funding from the Higher Education Authority Shared Island unit with the goal of advancing all- Ireland cancer research. This project will bring together research teams in Queens University Belfast, University of Limerick, clinicians and cancer professionals from all- over the island of Ireland to create a new digital health research framework for cancer. The project will skill researchers in standards for clinical data interoperability to enable study of Irish cancer patient demographics across the island of Ireland.

Key Working Relationships & Contacts

Reports to the Research Executive Administrator and the Director of the eHealth-Hub for Cancer. Works closely with the School of Medicine research administration team.

Has strong working relationships with faculty leadership of the eHealth-Hub and Limerick Digital Cancer Research Centre (LDCRC). Has excellent and collaborative working relationships with the researchteams in Queens University Belfastand University of Limerick. Develops and expands collaborations with industry and international consortium.

Has excellent and collaborative working relationships with UL and UHL academic, clinical and support staff across different divisions, eHealth-Hub members at different institutes on the island of Ireland and international collaborators. Regular contact and support to post-graduate/research students.

Working Environment/Special Circumstances

The administrative team is working in a hybrid model, with time working on campus and remotely. The Senior Administrator will be located in the School of Medicine on the UL campus and outside of the agreed hybrid model there will be additional requirement for on campus days during certain times of year (E.g. Conferences, events, etc). Travel to off campus clinical and educational sites is likely to be required on an occasional basis.

Can effectively manage relationships relevant to the role (as cited above) as well as all administrative correspondence between faculty in the eHealth-Hub and administration staff across multiple institutions in relation to research and education matters.

Experience

A minimum of three year’s administration experience in a higher education, medical research environment or similar – Essential

Experience of administration or program management in a clinical, academic/university or similar where management of multiple stakeholders and timely delivery is required – Essential

Experience of working with multi-institutional or complex organisational structure where communication between stakeholders is critical – Desirable

Experience in drafting and dissemination of newsletters, social media and other media – Essential

Experience of clinical research administration of projects that involves patient data – Desirable

Experience in undertaking complex, high level organisational and administrative tasks with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail – Essential

Experience in assisting with event organisation or updating project websites – Desirable
