Description
An opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced Gas & Power Trader, to join EP Dublin Energy Limited's (EPDEL) All-Ireland Trading Team. All-Ireland Trading Team is responsible for delivering essential optimisation services, risk management and wholesale market access for all EPUKI assets in the Republic of Ireland and GB into I-SEM. EPUKI is one of the largest independent generators in GB and ROI, and a division of Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH).
As part of the trading team, you will be responsible for the trading and optimisation of a growing EPUKI generation portfolio, including Tynagh Energy CCGT, EP Ballylumford CCGT, EP Kilroot and new EP Kilroot OCGTs.Reporting to the Trading Manager (All-Ireland), the Gas & Power Trader/Analyst shall be responsible for executing trading strategies, utilising expertise in the I-SEM markets, optimising thermal generation plant to maximise gross margin and offering support to the wider business functions when required.
In addition, analytical rotation roles and projects are also available to individuals to support the trading agenda and provide additional skill development for the team.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities and duties will include:-
* Preparing and submitting ex-ante market bids for multi thermal units in the I-SEM.
* Optimising balancing markets bids to manage the assets ex-ante positions while maximising within day opportunities.
* Trading within-day gas and power markets to balance positions and reduce the business's exposure to the balancing market as the units physical running changes.
* Managing the assets' daily gas capacity position reducing the exposure to overrun costs and maximising secondary trade opportunities.
* Managing the assets' carbon position and trade carbon in accordance with internal procedures and policies.
* Devising, developing, and implementing short term trading strategies for both the ex-ante markets and balancing markets to optimise generation and maximise overall plant P&L.
* Ensuring all power and gas licenses conditions are upheld through good communications with the relevant network operators and implementation of network codes.
* Adhering to the business's Trading Procedures and Protocols.
* Preparing, analysing, and summarising market reports for management and stakeholders.
* Providing regular and ad-hoc information to industry bodies: SEMO, Eirgrid, CRU, GNI, etc.
* Conducting competitor analysis and continuous review of participant bidding strategies.
* Sharing the responsibility to produce a monthly report for senior management and stakeholders.
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
Background
* Experience in the gas and electricity markets (Essential).
* Previous energy trading experience (Essential)
* Experience and detailed knowledge of the ISEM.
* Knowledge and understanding of the Ireland and GB commodity markets including gas, coal, oil and carbon.
* Knowledge and understanding of electricity interconnector operation, trading and the Ireland energy market.
* Knowledge IBP/NIBP/NBP/EU gas, ISEM/GB/EU power, coal, and emissions trading markets.
* Knowledge Electricity/Transmission System Operator services, codes, operations, and forums.
* Knowledge REMIT, Trading & Settlement Code, BCOP, EMIR, financial and energy market compliance obligations.
* A sound understanding of the operations of a power generation with knowledge of the commercial drivers of such units.
* Excellent MS Office knowledge – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
* Strong Excel skills with the ability to apply skills to market modelling and analysis.
* Database applications and statistical tool skills e.g., SQL, Python, Management Studio, VBA, PLEXOS etc.(Advantageous).
