The Role:
As Project Operations Manager, you will work as part of the senior management team to deliver operation and maintenance services to a number of wastewater facilities. You will act as the link between the Interim Operations of existing facilities, construction of new facility and the handover of the upgraded facility to the O&M team.
You will work closely with Civil, Mechanical & Process Engineers as well as lead a team of highly skilled O&M engineers and technicians to ensure the quality and quantity of any final effluent treated is within specification and that sites are adequately maintained in-line with contract requirements and company standards.
You will report monthly to the Senior O&M Manager on all aspects of project performance including plant performance, issues arising, budget and HSQE.
You will lead an experienced team of multi-discipline engineers and technicians in a one-team culture while actively contributing to your own skills and experience. You will be involved in all aspects of interim operations and maintenance including pre-takeover surveys, zero status reports, operations, process proving and ultimate hand back to the O&M Team in an extremely rewarding sector.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the Project Operations Manager are outlined as follows:
* Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture.
* Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site.
* Work closely and collaborate with all key stakeholders including clients, client representatives
* Ensure a positive experience for the client and their representatives instilling an ethos of collaboration and cooperation.
* Lead the O&M team in all aspects of wastewater treatment plant interim operation and maintenance.
* Conduct regular Health and Safety inspections on O&M sites as well as conducting and leading safety briefings and training sessions.
* Monitor project performance including risk and opportunities. Mitigate/reduce risk where possible and manage opportunities.
* Lead the team in the procurement of supplies and sub-contracts on time and within budget.
* Monitor, review and submit monthly status reports (MSRs) to the client and attend progress meetings where required.
* Build and promote industry-leading teams by providing training and mentoring of staff including setting out development plans for your team.
* Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules ensuring all assets are kept in good working order and available for use.
* Implement reactive maintenance visits and deployment as required when issues arise.
* Support project delivery teams in the process commissioning phase and coordinate the transition from the design & build phase into the operation & maintenance phase.
* Develop and maintain Standard Operating Plant Procedures (SOPPs) where required.
* Schedule and rota staff for each facility under your remit. Adjust and react to any annual leave or sick leave ensuring plants are covered at all times.
* Maintenance of the contract SharePoint O&M Site, Microsoft Teams & Glanua shared drive folders where applicable.
* Provide assistance, oversight and guidance from time to time on tendering opportunities for new upcoming projects.
* Respond to and address any client and stakeholder complaints in a timely manner. Obtain client satisfaction surveys and provide any feedback on how to improve our client satisfaction.
* Seek to improve the operation and maintenance process by providing lessons learned feedback and innovative solutions for adoption on current and future projects.
* Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
* Other duties as required from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the Project Operations Manager are outlined as follows:
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.
* Minimum of a Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
* Experienced in operation and maintenance of facilities including process systems, mechanical installation, control panels and electrical installation.
* Ability to work well under pressure in the event of reactive situations airing in the day-to-day operation of these water and wastewater facilities.
* An interest in developing a career within an industry-leading organisation.
* Ability to work as part of a team in project delivery and provide input at team meetings.
* Ability to engage with clients and the supply chain in a client-facing role.
* Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery.
* Good working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.
