Capital Project Manager – Production

We are delighted to announce that we are working with a key client of ours in recruiting for a Capital Project Manager.

This is an exciting time to join a growing successful food production business, that has a record of longevity in employment with many staff serving the business for 20 years +, they promote internally and promote across the business to help employees develop skills and gain experience across the business.

They will be growing production by 20% next year so this is an exciting time to get in and help shape that growth.

They are open to having conversations with candidates from an electrical/mechanical engineering background in manufacturing, who has experience in troubleshooting problems, people management experience, and has a proactive process improvement attitude.

Role Purpose:

Reporting to the CEO, you will lead key Programs & Projects that enable the success of our client by, delivering and completing engineering works, continuous improvements, and projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.

The successful candidate will oversee the ongoing delivery of Capital Projects. They will be a key member of the Capital Project Team, responsible for installation of new Mechanical Plant, Electrical Infrastructure, Equipment, refurbishment of existing facilities and implementation of new strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities:

* Take ownership of the planning, safe execution, and delivery of capital projects onsite.
* Working with all stakeholders on site to ensure effective delivery with as little interruption to operations as possible.
* Identifying and resourcing external contractors capable of delivering complex capital projects.
* Overseeing all aspects of ongoing projects, including inspections of works and delivery within budget.
* Participating in annual project forecasting meetings and participate in the ongoing development of the capital improvement plan for the site.
* Closely manage the departmental budget and capital projects budget – driving cost out and increasing effectiveness.
* Report on a weekly bases the top line of each project/works and if on target re timeline and budget.
* Ensure the function conforms to Statutory, Legislative and Regulatory requirements for GMP, EHS & Quality.
* Provision of clearly defined roles & responsibilities and annual goals & objectives for direct reports.
* Demonstrates effective change leadership.

Key Competencies for Role:

The role will require someone with a practical mind-set, who understands the deliverables associated with each phase of a Project.

The ideal candidate will:

* Have 5+ years managerial experience.
* Be a Qualified Electrician.
* Have proven experience in successfully delivering Capital Projects.
* Have a clear understanding of the typical project life cycle from concept through to handover and have proven experience in this area.
* Have strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of the customer/client relationship involved in projects.
* Have strategic and tactical thinking abilities.
* Be a convincing communicator with strong presentation skills and the ability to influence others.
* Be detail focused - each capital spend in the facility needs to work seamlessly post-delivery, meaning a detail focused approach is crucial during the planning and execution phase.
* Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
* Have outstanding people management and interpersonal skills.
* Have knowledge of Design Verification and Process Validations, particularly as it pertains to equipment and manufacturing processes.
* Be familiar with lean and operational excellence principles.
