Data Project Manager – Azure Datawarehouse

Overview:We are seeking an experienced Data Project Manager to lead and deliver high-profile data initiatives within the railway sector. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in Azure Data Warehouse environments and a strong track record managing end-to-end data projects in complex, regulated industries. This role is essential to advancing the organization’s data analytics capabilities, improving operations, and driving informed strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage all phases of complex data projects, ensuring successful delivery across planning, execution, and transition to operations.Develop and maintain detailed project plans using MS Project, tracking progress and ensuring alignment with key milestones and budget constraints.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, analytics, business stakeholders, and external partners.Ensure all testing, deployment, and release activities are managed effectively and adhere to quality standards.Work within a PMO framework, maintaining required project artefacts and governance documentation.Provide regular reporting and updates to stakeholders including the CIO, PMO Head, and National Transport Authority (NTA).Monitor SLAs and vendor performance, taking corrective action as necessary.Ensure seamless transition of completed projects into ongoing operational support.
Essential Skills & Experience:8+ years of project management experience, with a strong focus on data projects in cloud environments.Deep understanding of Azure Data Warehouse and modern data architecture.Demonstrated experience in managing projects within railway or transportation infrastructure domains.Proven delivery of at least three high-profile data projects in technically complex environments.Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and executive levels.Experience in budget tracking, risk management, and vendor coordination.
Mandatory Certifications:PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent formal Project Management certificationITIL CertificationAgile Certification (Certified Scrum Master - CSM or Professional Scrum Master - PSM)Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Certification (DP-203 or equivalent)
Desirable Attributes:Strong analytical mindset and data-driven decision-making approachFamiliarity with reporting tools such as Power BI or SSRSExperience managing government or public-sector IT projectsAbility to work in hybrid environments with multi-disciplinary teams
