As an integral part of a strong commercial team the successful candidate will work closely with our sales director and the wider commercial team.

Job Description

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and managing the Export Trades on a commercial basis, while maintaining an operational overview and adhering to our agreed pricing policies and intermodal strategy to achieve set Trade Budgets.

The key tasks for the Trade Development Manager are as follows:

1) Promote and maintain a sea freight pricing policy in conjunction with senior commercial management within MSC Ireland and headquarters.

2) Implement and communicate our current pricing policies to the internal sales teams.

3) Maintain our pricing strategy for our clients and report to the commercial director.

4) Prepare commercial budgets in conjunction with management and head office.

5) Manage approved commercial budgets ensuring our forecasts and position on track.

6) Target new business accounts on all export Trades together with the commercial teams and global agents overseas.

7) Prepare weekly performance and statistic reports to the commercial management and head office.

8) Support export documentation managers ensuring client needs are completed successfully by the export and commercial departments.

9) Develop and grow our existing customer portfolio alongside future key-account programs.

10) Attend client site visits weekly promoting our core services, added value services, and maximizing customer relationships.

11) Attending overseas European Trade meetings throughout the year.

We believe the successful Trade Development Manager should have the following skills:

* Experience in developing the commercial export sales processes and systems.
* Global international experience within the export shipping industry, clients, and markets.
* A key negotiator when engaging with existing and prospective clients.
* Proven experience in managing and leading commercial sales teams.
* Ability to create business development plans to secure export sales.
* Creative in developing, promoting, and delivering improvement strategies within commercial teams.
* Effective leadership and communications skills to guide, manage and motive teams.
* Outstanding geographical awareness.
* Excellent mathematical ability and understanding of currency fluctuations.
* First class organizational skills
* High standard verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines.

Essential Criteria:

* Minimum eight years’ experience and within the container shipping line or freight forwarding industry in the last five years.
* Full clean EU driving license.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office. Excel, PowerPoint and O365

A bachelor’s degree or higher in a business-related discipline is desirable.
