Join Our Supply team at Diageo’s new brewery in Kildare.

Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with an outstanding collection of brands across spirits and beer categories. These brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B, Buchanan’s and Windsor whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness.

Diageo’s new €200 million state-of-the-art carbon neutral brewery in Newbridge, Co. Kildare will brew lagers and ales including Rockshore, Harp, Smithwick’s, Kilkenny and Carlsberg. With a capacity of 2 million hectolitres, it will be the second largest brewing operation in Ireland after St. James’s Gate and support the future growth of Diageo Ireland’s beer brands.

The state-of-the-art brewery will be powered with 100% renewable energy and will harness the latest process technology to minimise overall energy and water consumption. The target date for the brewery to begin production is 2026 and it will facilitate the growth of overall beer exports from Ireland. It will also facilitate enhanced capacity for the production of the fast-growing Guinness 0.0 at the traditional home of Guinness at St James’s Gate in Dublin.

About The Role

The Capability & Organisational Effectiveness Manager is a pivotal member of the project operations team, tasked with driving training, capability, and organisational efficiency for project operational readiness.

This role is instrumental in developing an outstanding, future-fit training and development program for the brewery operations, lab, and maintenance teams.

Working closely with the project operations team, the Capability & OE Manager will build a site capability strategy that improves operational flexibility through a dynamic skills matrix, rostering, and cross-training approach.

This role will conclude with the full handover of the plant to the Operations team in February 2026.

As one of the earliest team members, you will be key in helping craft the culture of the Brewery. You will be a leader who is passionate about driving an environment of dedication, collaboration, and continuous improvement where people are highly engaged.

Key Responsibilities

The Capability & Organisational Effectiveness Manager will lead the Training Operational Readiness workstream as part of the project Operations team. This involves developing an end-to-end training strategy and program for brewery operational teams, with a focus on cross-training.

The role also entails crafting a site organisational efficiency strategy using a cross-training and rostering framework to optimise operational flexibility and output. The manager will identify crucial capability and knowledge needs in brewing theory and Manufacturing Excellence skills prior to commissioning.

Collaboration with design partners and third-party providers is crucial to building a modern, digitally based training program using AR/XR and on-demand learning.

Additionally, you'll adopt best practices in digital learning methodologies from the Global L&D team, design a training program for operational teams to drive effective cross-training and new employee onboarding, and develop a training cost centre and budget with the Finance manager.

Coordination of the onboarding and training of operational team members before plant commissioning is critical, as is ensuring the competency and sign-off procedure for operational teams is developed and maintained using digital solutions.

The manager will develop and align the site skills matrix and empowerment matrix with the overall training plan and site performance goals.

Leading the development and validation of Brewery learning content on Diageo’s My Learning Hub and other training tools, creating site engagement and communication strategies, including newsletters and team-building sessions, to reach wider site teams and contractors.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be collaborating with the Beer Category Governance team and other site Capability leads to share findings and optimise approaches across sites are also key responsibilities.

* Demonstratable experience in developing a training strategy and leading the execution of interventions.
* Understanding and experience in developing digitally based training formats
* Experience in developing training approaches/plans for CAPEX projects
* Experience in a leadership role, coaching team members, and communicating across operations and management teams.
* Experience handling a training budget.
* Ability to work creatively with a blue-sky and digital mindset, imagining and developing new approaches.
