About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Rail Project Director to join their growing Transportation team in Ireland. This is a senior-level opportunity (Technical Director or Director grade) to lead the delivery of major, multi-disciplinary rail and transport infrastructure projects.
Our client focuses on innovative design, technical excellence, and a collaborative, trusted partnership approach to working with clients. They are looking for a driven, self-motivated leader with a passion for delivering complex rail projects from concept through to construction. The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with a strong technical foundation and significant experience managing large-scale rail infrastructure schemes. You’ll work closely with industry-leading clients and stakeholders, playing a pivotal role in the strategic and technical direction of key programmes.
Responsibilities
- Act as Project Director on major multi-disciplinary rail and transportation projects.
- Take overall ownership of project management, contract, and commercial performance.
- Serve as Project Manager on large railway infrastructure schemes, ensuring successful delivery across all stages.
- Collaborate with Engineering Directors and Managers to oversee the design process and ensure integration across disciplines.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and line management support to project managers and junior team members.
- Lead the preparation of tender proposals and play a key role in winning new work and developing client relationships.
Eligibility
Requirements:
- Degree-qualified (Level 8/9) in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent professional body.
- Extensive experience delivering multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects within Ireland or the UK.
- Proven track record of contract management, ideally with experience as an Employer’s Representative or NEC Project Manager.
- Experience across all stages of the project life cycle — from concept through to construction.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Collaborative approach to working with clients, delivery partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence to challenge and innovate.
- Full driving licence.
