Réidh Coordinator

Job Description

Réidh is a pre-employment service for 16- 30 year olds from a migrant background, primarily International Protection Applicants (IPAs) and refugees. This service runs courses in 6-week cycles based on different career avenues. Participants also have the opportunity to participate in ESOL classes for the duration of the cycle.

The Réidh Coordinator will manage all aspects of running and facilitating this innovative pilot programme, overseeing the day-to-day running of the service, organising, connecting with community stakeholders, and supporting participants throughout. We have a non-formal learning context, with learners participating in a collaborative process where their learning experience is tailored to their individual learning needs. These negotiated and personalised learning outcomes reflect the reality that each participant has a different starting point and onward journey.

The Réidh Programme Coordinator will work on the Youth Spaces team, reporting to the Youth Services Manager.

Responsibilities

Programme Management

● To ensure that the programme as delivered reflects the values and ethos of the YMCA, as detailed in the Mission Statement and Youth Space Policies/Procedures.

● Lead the YMCA Réidh Team and report to senior management as required (This includes preparing rotas, annual leave, keeping track of sick leave, etc...)

● Plan, deliver and evaluate direct face-to-face with participants through consultation and participation.

● Actively promote and support project planning across the team.

● Ensure a high level of service excellence in relation to the planning and delivery of the Réidh project.

● The coordinator will be expected to have a hands-on approach and carry out direct face-to-face service delivery at least 40% of working hours. Hours of work must be flexible and you may be required to work evenings and weekends.

● Work alongside the youth spaces management team conducting weekly support meetings for at-risk participants and ensuring correct supports are in place.

● Ensuring the completion, processing, monitoring, and return of relevant documentation to the Youth Services Manager and funding agencies as required.

● Implementing, and monitoring health and safety procedures for all aspects of the project’s work.

● Responding to new practice and policy changes, communicating, and bringing staff on board with changes.

● Effective representation of Dublin YMCA programme to professional partners, and community organisations and in the dissemination of programme outcomes.

● To make a contribution to the ongoing development and evolution of the programme and participate in Conferences and training as required.

● Any other duties related to the delivery of YMCA Youth & Community Work.

● To abide by YMCA Policies and Procedures.

People Management

● Management and oversight of all areas of work delivered across the project.

● Providing individual support and supervision to the staff team.

● Identify and facilitate opportunities for team and practice development.

● Develop a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice.

● Dealing with issues of work-related performance in the staff team.

● Facilitating probationary and annual appraisal reviews.

● Dealing with issues of work-related conflict.

● Identifying the development needs of staff team individually and collectively

● Convening regular and ongoing team meetings for information sharing, planning, review, practice development, and evaluation. Co-ordinating the recruitment, training, and work of sessional and voluntary support workers.

Qualifications

A recognised, professionally endorsed qualification in Community Development or related qualification is essential plus three years of full-time experience working with migrants in a community setting in a paid capacity.
