About the Opportunity
Our client is a global pharmaceutical company looking to hire a Project Technical Manager as part of their Global Engineering function. The role involves leading a team of technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to deliver the most appropriate engineering solution to meet key stakeholder expectations from an operational performance, safety, and sustainable viewpoint for the lifetime of the facility. This is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of 3 days a week on average in the office.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the ongoing capital program for small molecule API manufacturing.
- Establish the project’s technical direction for all technical aspects.
- Develop technical scope for the project and identify resource requirements with project management to deliver the project.
- Lead and task manage a significant cross-disciplinary SME team and work closely with the team to ensure a seamless transfer of technical responsibilities.
- Ensure the full technical scope is aligned with the business and project needs.
- Collaborate with the project execution team to deliver the project scope on time and budget.
- Support the Operational Readiness team technically to ensure design clarity to the Owner.
- Take accountability for the delivery of the GMP compliant, functionality, and robust performance of the technical packages.
- Ensure projects align with the Company’s Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) requirements.
- Evaluate the technical competence of Design Contractors and proposed external team members qualifications.
- Define and secure necessary Subject Matter Experts (SME) and required support.
- Develop technical performance criteria and ensure they are met during start-up and early operation.
- Collect and document technical learning post-project completion.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should have:
- At least 5 years relevant Capital project technical and execution experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry and major capital investments.
- Experience working in a global organization and adapting "engineering delivery" to local differences.
- Experience working successfully with Design Contractors and Equipment suppliers on major projects.
- Excellent communication, customer & partner management, enabling and influencing skills.
- Design and operational experience in ATEX design and delivery of functional safety.
- Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline with experience in project management and/or project delivery.
- Proven leadership qualities with ability to motivate and direct others in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated and able to act on initiative, highly organized with proven time-management and structured prioritization skills.
