Director of Oligonucleotide Design

Role Overview:They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Oligonucleotide Design to drive oligonucleotide structure design capabilities. This individual will play a pivotal role in the strategic evolution, enhancing their offerings beyond manufacturing to provide end-to-end design solutions. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in oligo structure design and will be instrumental in ensuring the optimal design of oligonucleotides for various therapeutic and research applications.
Key Responsibilities:Lead and develop oligonucleotide design capabilities, ensuring best-in-class solutions for clients.Design and optimize oligo structures, considering different backbone types and modificationsFamiliarity with capping strategies, such as GPPP, N7-MeGPPP, Uaq, Pyrene, and AppRNA, to enhance stability and efficacy.Evaluate and predict biophysical properties, and stability, to optimize function and manufacturability.Ensure compatibility of oligonucleotides with various delivery systems and downstream applications.Work cross-functionally with internal teams, including process development, analytical chemistry, and formulation scientists, to integrate oligonucleotide design into broader service offerings.Engage with clients to provide expert consultation on oligonucleotide design and strategic project planning.Stay at the forefront of oligonucleotide research, bringing in new innovations and methodologies to strengthen capabilities.
Key Requirements:PhD or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.5 – 10 years of hands-on experience in oligonucleotide structure design and modification.Proven expertise in backbone modifications, capping strategies, and biophysical property evaluation.Strong understanding of oligonucleotide interactions with delivery systems and downstream applications.Ability to lead projects and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset to drive innovation in oligonucleotide design.Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with clients and stakeholders.Can be based in US or Europe and work remotely, with occasional travel to the UK site.
