IPM Academia is the Institute of Project Management’s internal academic framework, designed to ensure quality, rigour, and real-world relevance in all programmes.
For over three decades, the Institute of Project Management has played a pivotal role in strengthening project, programme, and portfolio management capability. IPM Academia is our internal governance system for academic quality and learning integrity. It defines how we develop, deliver, and evaluate our courses across all delivery modes—classroom, virtual, blended, and self-paced. The framework ensures our programmes consistently meet international benchmarks while remaining closely aligned with the evolving needs of Irish professionals and organisations.
Built on recognised global standards and quality assurance principles, IPM Academia helps us respond confidently to the requirements of learners, accreditation bodies, and industry. In the Irish context, this includes alignment with frameworks such as the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) principles, and the expectations of both private and public sector employers.
At its core, IPM Academia represents our commitment to international credibility and pedagogical rigour. Every programme is designed and regularly reviewed against globally recognised benchmarks, including the IPMA® Individual Competence Baseline and PMI® global frameworks.

We do not deliver off-the-shelf content. Instead, our curriculum design is deliberate and dynamic—focused not only on what learners know, but on what they can do. Real-world scenarios, critical reflection, collaborative tasks, and problem-solving exercises are embedded throughout to mirror the complexity of modern project environments and support enduring competence.

At IPM, our faculty bridge the worlds of education and execution—combining academic depth with real-world project delivery experience. Our team brings together a diverse group of professionals: former leaders from IPMA® and PMI®, university academics, executive consultants, and active project managers from sectors such as finance, healthcare, technology, infrastructure, and public service. Many of our educators remain deeply engaged in strategic initiatives across Ireland, contributing to national infrastructure projects, public sector transformation, and digital innovation programmes in both government and finance.
Over 90% of our faculty members hold a Master’s or Doctoral degree, and all maintain active, globally recognised certifications—including IPMA®, PMP®, PRINCE2®, and Lean Six Sigma. Yet beyond qualifications, what sets them apart is their ability to connect: with learners, with content, and with the changing realities of project leadership.
