Tuba shares how volunteering at IPM shaped her path to becoming a Data Analyst, offering career and personal growth insights.
Hi, my name is Tuba Muqeem. I am a former IPM Volunteer who has recently transitioned into a Data Analyst role at IPM. In this article, I will share my entire volunteering experience with you. I will go into detail about how a student can get involved in real industrial projects and how this involvement can enhance your work experience, as well as your professional and personal life.
I will also share my story, and I am sure you will learn a lot from it—especially if you are feeling confused about how to apply your theoretical knowledge and gain real-world industry experience.
The Institute of Project Management (IPM) is the fastest-growing organisation providing world-class education to project managers. With over 30 years in the industry, IPM has established itself as a leader. In response to the ever-increasing demand for project managers, IPM is dedicated to training both experienced professionals and newcomers with full enthusiasm.
My main motivation for joining IPM was to leverage my skills and gain real-world industrial experience. Each day, I learned about business, how marketing experts handle various situations, and how companies develop their strategies. With an educational background in IT, I was also interested in emerging technologies like data science and artificial intelligence. As a student, you often explore different paths to discover your passion. I tried various avenues to understand myself better, but data technology and business are what interest me the most. I can happily work with data all day; I find myself constantly thinking about it, and I am often drawn to debugging.
While theoretical knowledge is of little value without practical application, I decided to volunteer at a firm and came across the IPM volunteering opportunity. After researching their system, I was intrigued and applied for a volunteering position, and I was thrilled to be selected.
Once I started my work with IPM, I was often surprised by how they appreciate even minor efforts, how they motivate you to do your best, and how they provide constructive feedback. They genuinely value your perspective, and no one will demotivate you when presenting your ideas, from managers to peers.
IPM was the best volunteering experience I have had. The team members were collaborative and easy to work with; they appreciate your contributions and create a welcoming culture at IPM.
It has a 100% unbiased environment; if you work hard, you will receive the recognition you deserve. Every single team member puts in their best effort to make your experience wonderful.
In conclusion, everyone should consider joining IPM, especially those who are early in their careers, as well as seasoned professionals. IPM offers opportunities and a network that can significantly impact your career advancement. You can feel confident in your skills, both personally and professionally.
