Senior Planning Manager

About the roleBNRG is seeking a Senior Planning Manager to join our Irish and UK team. The Senior Planning Manager will work in the Irish and UK development team and manage all matters relating to planning for projects in Ireland, the UK and other portfolios when required. This role will be interfacing with a variety of stakeholders such as local landowners, ESBN, Eirgrid, ABP and local planning authorities. They will be required to take initiative and make preliminary assessments on opportunities identified by the development team. The Senior Planning Manager will work with the internal finance team to determine viability of the projects, the procurement team to progress projects so they are ready for construction and the construction manager in ensuring the hand over to construction is a smooth transition.

ResponsibilitiesThe main responsibilities of the position will include but are not limited to:Supporting the planning and permitting aspects of utility scale PV portfolio from inception through to project closeout.Feeding into project budget, risk management, health and safety, and quality.Review land and planning issues for potential sites.Make sure that all planning submissions, appeals and RFI's are lodged in a timely manner.Manage preliminary layout designs for sites identified.Use the Monday.com or other PMP tools keep track of all potential opportunities.Work with law firms to progress planning applications for projects where applicable.Understand differences in substation configurations and provide value driven decisions to various internal stakeholders.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience in the preparation for planning application for Renewable Energy projects. The candidate should display strong business acumen, leadership, communication, coordination, problem-solving and negotiation skills. The candidate will be capable of working across complex organisations and dynamic environments that are prone to regular change.
A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related fieldAt least 3-5 years of experience in planning permission.Experience in substation design is beneficialExperienced with Solar PV and construction terminology is beneficialEnthusiasm to progress planning applications for solar farms and BESS facilities in Ireland and the UK.Strong process orientation.Strong verbal and written communications skills are essentialExperience and expertise with MS Office & MS Project are essential
